Dear Community Members:
In our first four years, The Placer Hills Education Foundation has provided over $300,000 of support and services to the Placer Hills Union School District!! Thanks to all of you whose generous support made this possible!
Last year we continued our support of music and reading rotation programs at the district level as well as funding several mini grant requests from many of the teachers in the district. Our auction raised over $35,000, including money specifically to keep club activities going at WHS this year. We’ve also implemented a system which allows you to give directly to a mini grant request via our website and just recently granted our first request using funds donated this way.
The state budget situation for education is dire and appears that it will only worsen. But PHEF is committed to doing what we can to make sure the children in our district will still have the opportunity to participate in art, music and other programs which encourage their creativity and enrich their education. As class sizes increase, we’re providing tools which help teachers engage more students at once. We are also encouraging teachers to bring us the projects which excite them so that we might help them deliver unique experiences to their students. Although the PHEF contribution is small in comparison to the cuts we are able to make a difference by funding unique items that would otherwise never make it into the classroom but greatly improve the learning environment. These contributions range from reading aids and cultural field trips to high technology equipment making internet capability available. Together, with your help, our community can continue to have superior schools that prepare our children for the future.
What can you do now? Donate! Send a check or donation from this website to a specific request which interests you or to the foundation in general. If you can give through United Way contributions at work, check with us as to how your donation can be directed to PHEF. Mark on your calendar Friday, February 26th, 2010, as the date of our next Dinner/Auction event and if you can donate any item or service for auction please let us know. As always, your donations are tax-deductible. And finally, because we are an all volunteer group, we greatly need more volunteers to get involved and keep PHEF going. Feel free to contact me about how you can help ‘Keep the Cool in School!’
Thank you for all your support!
